Class of 2002 - Sarah Hillyard
"Some of my warmest memories are of growing up alongside the school itself. When I joined in Junior 3, it only went up to Junior 5, and each year the school grew with us - and we grew with the school.
It is truly a family school: my father was headmaster of primary and my mother was headmistress of secondary school for some time. Many teachers have their own children in the school, too.
I remember being given the opportunity to play the piano in school concerts, and singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” as a soloist in The Wizard of Oz. I also learnt to do Scottish dancing and went to competitions — something I still remember how to do today, and now teach my own daughter."
Sarah now lives in London and works as a freelance teacher trainer and author. She helps teachers around the world develop their skills and writes educational books and materials for children learning English. Her work has been published by major international publishers including Macmillan, Pearson, Oxford University Press and Richmond.
